Socrates

Though Socrates died a noble death when he drank his hemlock, his spirit lives on through our Socrates Little Thinker Doll. This adorable little philosopher stands a mighty 11 inches high and appears full of wisdom with his white hair, beard, and toga. Think of the hours of enlightened fun you'll have with your very own Socrates. Make believe you're his pupil Plato as you explore such questions as "What is truth?" "What is beauty?" and "What do you have on under your toga?"

'The father of all Western dolls.' -- Philosopher Doll Quarterly

SOCRATES
(c. 470 - 399 BCE)
The 'Socratic Problem' is that Socrates never wrote anything down, so all we know of him is through the writings of his student, Plato. Socrates pioneered a method of teaching that used questions and answers rather than lectures. Sentenced to death for denying the reality of the gods and corrupting the youth of Athens, Socrates calmly drank the poison he was given - hemlock - and died a noble death.

Title: True Platonic Love!
He sets on my bookshelf with my philosophy/theology books, but I've taken him to several classes, including Literary Criticism and Ancient/Medieval Philosophy. He's my own portable plush gadfly! PS: I washed him recently, but I think he preferred being grimy

Title: Socrates
Nobody knows what Socrates looked like. So I would say that this puppet looks exactly like the good ol' Greek. Love the fuzzy beard and his extremely long legs beneath his cloth(es)
