VIRGINIA WOOLF
(January 25, 1882 - March 28, 1941)
A distinguished novelist, essayist and critic, and a central figure in the Bloomsbury group. Virginia was a nervous and delicate child, educated at home by her parents. Her writing explores concepts of time, memory and inner consciousness, and is remarkable for its humanity and depth of perception. Suffering from frequent bouts of depression, Woolf drowned herself in the River Ouse in 1941.

Title: A Woolf in Nice Clothing
My Virginia Woolf has a longer face than the one online, and she has a dreamy look about her, like she's thinking about something far off. She is a very gentle soul and is wearing a lovely dress, shoes, and beaded necklace. She has no pockets with which to put rocks to drown herself, but I am having Sigmund Freud keep a close eye on her anyway!

Title: Dolls are great
I purchased Woolf little thinkers for the seven students in my graduate Virginia Woolf class--just for the fun of it. Even the most serious students broke into smiles, and throughout the day, the dolls could be seen peeking out of backpacks and sitting on desk tops!
