HANNAH ARENDT
(October 14, 1906 - December 4, 1975)
German-Jewish political theorist Hannah Arendt was one of the most influential political philo-sophers of the 20th Century. She fled the Nazis in 1933, settled in the U.S. where she became the first woman to be appointed a full professor at Princeton University. Arendt coined the phrase 'the banality of evil' to describe a bureaucrat who was evil not out of sadistic desire, but because he failed to think through his actions.

Title: Neither banal nor evil
Inexpensive, yet brings hours of pleasure to a political science professor (who admittedly is easily amused).
