FRANZ KAFKA
(July 3, 1883 - June 3, 1924)
Kafka suffered heavily under his father's domination. Little known during his lifetime, he was employed at a worker's accident insurance company by day and dedicated his nights to writing. Kafka's work chronicles the fate of modern man caught in an incomprehensible and nightmarishly constructed world.

Title: The Inimitable Mr. K.
Of the cards I have ordered, this is my favorite. I like the image of Kafka, briefcase in hand, heading to the insurance office where he worked. Only there is a beetle on the outside of his valise, superb detail. The quotations on the stickers are well chosen, and including some that are exquisite paradoxes, the essence of Kafka's thinking. My personal favorite among the quotations: "The Messiah will come when he is no longer needed." One could write a whole essay on the meaning of this.
