CHARLIE CHAPLIN
(April 16, 1889 - December 25, 1977)
One of the greatest film comedians, Charles Spencer Chaplin was born into a family of performers in London. He first took to the stage at the age of 5, and rose to success on the vaudeville circuit. Chaplin's character the Tramp, a vagrant who maintains his positive outlook no matter how bleak his situation, was cinema's first international icon.
